Specialized bibliographies serve, in part, the function of the Index Medicus in that they list again titles already recorded for retrieval by the researcher. But in presenting within one compact volume what is scattered widely through many in the Index, they save much time for the researcher fortunate enough to find a bibliography prepared to fit his need. The bibliography on sarcoidosis, noted in Book Notices in this number of the ANNALS, is a good example of such a valuable compilation. Genevieve Miller's compilation is another.
