Just as men can be classified as horses, muffins, and birds (or mesomorphs, endomorphs, and ectomorphs—for those who prefer polysyllabic nomenclature), so can physicians be divided into those who like numbers and those who do not. Those who do not probably includes those who are baffled by the physiology of body fluids and hence are inept in this aspect of therapy. I don't know who, precisely, buys books on fluid therapy—those who like the subject or those who do not. But someone buys them, or publishers would not be so steadily issuing titles in this field.
