A German translation of the authors' original work in Hungarian. It is a clinically oriented review of the various uses of cortisone and its analogues in the field of internal medicine. Commonly used applications, such as in collagen diseases, blood dyscrasias, and malignancies are reviewed as well as more unconventional ones such as in myocardial infarction, viral infections, and tuberculosis. Introductory chapters review physiologic actions of adrenal hormones and chemistry and pharmacology of the glucocorticosteroids. A concluding part reviews thoroughly side effects. An extensive bibliography is appended to each chapter but few references later than 1962 are cited. The bibliography
