Data on occurrence and types of congenital malformations in stillborn and liveborn infants of 421,781 pregnancies, studied in 24 centers in 16 countries. Particular attention given to geographical variations and consanguinity.
Of special import is the finding of marked association of consanguinity of parents with increased rates of stillbirth and early death of infant.
