The author's intent was to collect information concerning the usefulness of the jugular venous pulse in physical diagnosis, to describe a simple, inexpensive, portable method of recording the jugular pulse using a standard electrocardiograph, and to present a series of representative tracings with this method. This has been accomplished in a concise, readable text with a pertinent bibliography. There are 21 brief chapters dealing with the various facets of the jugular venous pulse and an atlas of jugular venous pulse tracings.
