A practical application of the rapid developments in oncology for the control of clinical cancer has been prepared in this volume. In an earlier publication (Volume I) the editor and his collaborators prepared a broad foundation for future progress reports in the problems of cancer. The current Volume II reflects the numerous directions in which progress in clinical cancer can be pursued; this volume is dedicated to the eminent experimental surgeon, Dr. Owen H. Wangensteen, whose teachings were responsible for the successful careers of many of the contributors of this book.
