A summary of the author's experience with chronic forms of hepatitis in 83 adults seen through 1 to 6 years and from whom 236 liver biopsies have been obtained. "Lupoid hepatitis" is that variant of chronic active hepatitis in which antinuclear serum factors are demonstrable and which should not be considered a distinct disease. No mention of immunoelectrophoretic or electron-microscopic studies. Adequate black-and-white photomicrographs of biopsies are presented. Current literature is reviewed succinctly; bibliography of 347 titles is international. Recommended for the clinician but adds nothing for the research worker.
