Twenty-three papers read at the opening Symposium of the Pfizer Foundation, Post-Graduate Medical School, University of Edinburgh, in 1965. Six of these are concerned with biochemistry of insulin and insulin action, five with diabetic angiopathy (including neuropathy, retinopathy, and glomerulopathy), seven with genetic and epidemiological aspects of diabetes, and four with topics in therapy (gangrene, sulfonylurea failure, and pituitary ablation). Some of the papers consider only very narrow aspects of their topic, but others serve as very brief but informative reviews of wider appeal.
