The breadth of subject matter covered under this title is considerable, ranging from the chemistry of the normal serum proteins through their physiology and pathology. In fact, a final section is included on proteins in extravascular fluids. As the author notes in the introduction, there has been a remarkable amount of work in this area over the last 30 years as serum proteins have provided the chemist with the largest quantity of dissolved proteins that are as nearly as possible unchanged from the living state.
