The authors have done a commendable job of pulling together a broad experience of their own as well as most of the important references in the field in producing the first medical textbook on long-term hemodialysis.
They cover the important and practical clinical aspects of long-term hemodialysis starting with the history and evaluation of the field and then considering, in order, basic physical concepts of hemodialysis, equipment and facilities, and the selection and care of the patient. A chapter is devoted to each of the major complications occurring in dialysis patients.
