To the Editor: Although I am far from being an expert in the field, I must disagree with one of the conclusions in the article by Strott and Nugent, "Laboratory Tests in the Diagnosis of Hyperparathyroidism in Hypercalcemic Patients." In their discussion of these tests, they point out that none of them gave abnormal results in as many as 82% of the patients with primary hyperparathyroidism and that there was a high prevalence of false positives. Examining the data presented in Table 5 concerning the rapid calcium infusion test developed by Goldsmith (J. Urol. 89: 487, 1963; Arch. Intern. Med.
