Several previous reports have alluded to cases of left bundle branch block (LBBB) associated with a good prognosis and occurring in the absence of demonstrable cardiovascular disease. The present study was designed to evaluate a group of such patients by careful clinical assessment and cardiac catheterization techniques.
Four men, ages 39 to 44, and 1 woman, age 22, were found to have complete LBBB on a routine electrocardiogram for an annual physical examination. One man has had intermittent LBBB since coming under observation. No patient had cardiorespiratory symptoms, and all were physically active. Physical examination revealed no abnormality other than
