A collection of 26 essays assembled in Britain, this book is purportedly the first of a Modern Trends series dealing with rheumatic diseases. Several essays are concerned with etiology, others with clinical management, and the remainder with refinements of clinical descriptions. The writing is pleasantly terse and clear, generally free from professional jargon and redundancies. The volume is exceptionally well-produced, the illustrations are effective, and the index is thorough.
