To describe such an enormous subject as world health in a small volume (this one measures only 5½ x 8¼ in.) calls for a degree of knowledge and literary skill bordering on the miraculous. Although Prof. Brockington's effort may not be perfect, and there are some distortions of subject matter, he does succeed, except in a few places, in keeping the reader interested—a rare record for books on this subject. The distortions stem from the preoccupation of the author with history and with vital statistics. Perhaps it is just as well that Prof. Brockington does emphasize these two themes so
