The author's intent was to provide fundamentals needed by the physician when he initially seeks knowledge about congenital cardiac malformations. The presentation, centered around the ordinary chest X ray, deals with the 11 cardiac malformations that comprise about 85% of congenital cardiac defects. It is intended for physicians at all levels, but particularly house staff, fellows, and medical students.
The introductory chapter is a meticulous, step-by-step presentation of functional radiographic anatomy basic to complete clinical correlation in the cardiac patient. The second chapter presents interpretive stages in evaluating shunt lesions, stressing the relationship of the roentgenologic findings to the physiology
