Since this is the first book in English on the subject of traumatic neurosis for over a quarter of a century, it is potentially valuable and merits serious consideration. I agree with the author's estimate that the observable incidence of so-called traumatic neurosis is rising and that both medicine and law need to understand it better than they seem to now. His book is in most respects a well-organized, highly readable textbook, noteworthy in its balanced, thorough review of the literature.
