The purpose of this book as stated by the authors is to "present to the reader a detailed analysis of normal gait so that limping and its treatment can be better understood." Unfortunately, the book does not adequately fulfill its purpose. It does provide diagrams and descriptions of the details of normal and pathological gait, and it represents a tremendous amount of work by the authors.
The first section of the book describes the method of study: direct observation and film sequences. The second and third sections are devoted to line drawings and descriptions of normal and pathological gaits. A
