To the editor: In the paper "Laboratory Tests in the Diagnosis of Hyperparathyroidism in Hypercalcemic Patients" (Ann. Intern. Med. 68: 188, 1968.), Strott and Nugent reject all functional tests of primary hyperparathyroidism. However, their personal experience quoted five times is limited to eight cases, and their review of the literature is incomplete. In 1966 we published the detailed data of 29 patients with surgically proved adenomatous parathyroid disease who were compared with a similarly sized group of idiopathic renal stone formers (1).
