A short history of surgical methods and results that appears to be an assemblage of papers originally prepared for separate publication. Emphasis is on developments related to the American Civil War and developments in New Orleans. The eight closing chapters are medical accounts of trauma to and care of such figures as President James Garfield, Senator Huey Long, and Lee Harvey Oswald.
The disconnected, reiterative qualities of this book disqualify it as a historical monograph. Not recommended for institutional libraries.
