Bowel perforation by a peritoneal dialysis catheter after 9 hr of normal dialysis occurred in a 79-year-old woman with intractable generalized edema due to severe congestive heart failure. At autopsy a perforation of the edematous sigmoid colon was associated with acute peritonitis.
