The authors' intention is to ". . . provide a broad coverage of information that the family physician can use to help people seeking genetic advice." They have accomplished this goal rather well. Their book is short, and the exposition of the genetic principles is reasonably lucid although there is an occasional digression more philosophical than factual. A table, delineating the service facilities for genetic counseling available throughout the country is included and should prove useful to the practitioner.
