Here is another of the many volumes of the Encyclopedia of Medical Radiology that, when published completely, will cover the entire field of radiology. This book reviews the radiological investigation of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenal bulb. Various authors have written contributions, and the quality differs from section to section.
The physiology of the esophagus is treated briefly in the first chapter, followed by a more comprehensive discussion of the abnormal esophagus. A review of the postoperative changes of the esophagus is very useful. Occasionally lack of illustrations is noticed. For instance, no radiograph of a Plummer-Vinson syndrome is shown.
