To the editor: Thanks for Baltimore and clinical medicine in the June 1969 ANNALS. In 1923 as an intern at the Philadelphia General Hospital I came under the influence of some spectacular clinicians, and the heritage of the Osler aura was still present. Rummaging through Leary's second-hand bookstore in Philadelphia I came across Osler's "Æquanimitas," which now is almost falling apart, but still holds a central position in my office.
