The twenty-fourth International Congress of the Physiological Sciences sponsored a symposium on the pulmonary circulation in August 1968, in Chicago. Papers were presented by scientists from England, Italy, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, and the United States. This book is a collection of essays by these authorities based on, but not identical with, their oral presentations. It is divided into four parts.
