Dr. Blakley, working in both the United States and his native Australia, has made a number of important contributions to the biochemistry of folic acid. The bulk of his book is a comprehensive treatise on folates in terms of natural occurrence, chemical and physical properties, biosynthesis, absorption, distribution, and metabolism. Supported by almost 2,000 references, it is a coherent statement of knowledge of folates as of mid-1968 and will constitute a major general reference work. The bulk of the book will primarily interest biochemists, especially workers in the field of folate metabolism, but Chapters 12 through 14 constitute well-written reviews
