It could seem presumptuous of anyone to write an essay on the practical management of obesity when the results of this treatment are as yet so uniformly bad. Initial enthusiasm and success dim with the passage of time. It is desirable, however, to record experiences particularly when they are carefully pursued and rationally analyzed.
The author, a British general practitioner, has written this monograph detailing his clinical experiences with a large number of obese patients. His observations are cogent and obviously sympathetic.
