A beta hemolytic Streptococcus belonging to Lancefield group L was isolated from multiple cultures of the blood of a 43-year-old man with subacute bacterial endocarditis complicated by cerebral emboli. He was treated with penicillin G and recovered. This is the first case of endocarditis due to streptococci of this group.
