Carlos Eyzaguirre, an experienced neurophysiologist and an excellent teacher, has written a valuable introductory text dealing with physiology of the nervous system. We have found this useful in undergraduate university courses on the nervous system and as an optional introductory text for medical students. The book is very clearly written and illustrated, provides key references, is systematically organized, and is usefully indexed. The book is divided into five parts: "General Neurophysiology;" "Sensory Systems;" "Motor Systems;" "The Control of Viscera, Blood Vessels and Glands;" and "Denervation and Trophic Functions."
