Although this monograph is one of the series of American Lectures in Living Chemistry, it is not concerned with chemical alterations in muscular dystrophy. It is a clinical study of 50 male patients with pseudohypertrophic muscular dystrophy who have been followed for from 3 to more than 10 years and a histopathologic study of a small number of these patients. The author's sole purpose is to attempt to explain the pattern of wasting in this form of muscular dystrophy.
