To the editor: In a recent editorial note on "Esophageal Function in Diabetes Mellitus" (Ann Intern Med 72:281-282, 1970), Drs. Goyal and Spiro briefly summarized esophageal disorders seen in various conditions. To this we should like to add the findings of our recent study on the swallowing function in chronic schizophrenic patients (1).
Since the cooperation necessary for manometric studies could not be expected in a psychotic group of patients, cineradiographic method was applied.
