A short review, based on the E. R. Squibb Lectures on the Chemistry of Microbial Products, given November 6 to 8, 1968, at Rutgers State University, N.J. Covers the chemistry and biochemistry of the coenzyme, thiamin diphosphate, with consideration of pyruvic oxidase, transketolase, phosphoketolase, glyoxylic acid carboligase, and the phosphoroclastic reaction. Very little attention to metabolic and clinical aspects. Not recommended for clinical libraries.
