This small volume contains 19 essays by 19 different authors on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, clinical manifestations, management, prevention, and control of tuberculosis. These essays were originally presented at a symposium at the University of Florida College of Medicine in early 1968. They vary considerably in both length and quality.
The contributions on airborne transmission, cellular immunity in tuberculosis, the tuberculin test, atypical mycobacterial infection, Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG), and chemoprophylaxis are all by recognized authorities on those subjects and are excellent. Discussions of primary and retreatment chemotherapy are well done as far as they go but omit some important material
