Although radiology has revolutionized the diagnosis of chest disease over the past 50 years, few collaborative efforts (other than that of Hinshaw and Garland) have been made between radiologist and internist to write a comprehensive text on the diagnosis of chest disease. Perhaps this reflects a lack of effective communication between radiologists and internists in most hospitals.
