The clinician who needs a useful, concise work on modern enzymology should own this book. It is a handy reference for current diagnostic enzyme determinations. The chapters are written by several internists, surgeons, and pathologists. Especially important are the tables of differential diagnoses of diseases that alter enzyme levels. These give the reader rapid insight into clinical enzymology. One minor deficiency is a lack of discussion of enzyme methodology. Such descriptions would be of value to physicians in laboratory medicine. The book, however, contains much valuable information. (PAUL L. WOLF, M.D., Stanford University Medical Center, Stanford, Calif.)
