To the editor: We were very pleased to read the article by Williams and colleagues, "The Use of a Therapeutic Milieu on a Continuing Care Unit in a General Hospital" (1), emphasizing the importance of making the milieu of the hospital ward an active therapeutic instrument. In October 1968 we published a description of such a unit, located at our acute general hospital, a major teaching division of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (2).
