The current upsurge of interest in tumor immunology is reflected by the title of this volume. The authors have strayed considerably, however, from what one might expect in a book so entitled. They have written an often superficial, nondiscriminatory account of various aspects of immunology, infectious disease, and pharmacology as these areas relate to malignancy, transplantation, autoimmune disease, and related topics. This approach may properly serve their intent to write for "clinicians concerned with the management of malignant disease" but may leave the serious student of tumor immunology without much reward for his effort.
