To the editor: After reading the article, "Three Thyrotoxic Criminals," by Davis and associates (Ann Intern Med 74:743-745, 1971), I was prompted to review a chart on a patient I had examined at the request of the Public Defender of a neighboring county. The patient was a 27-year-old man on trial for possession of a sawedoff shotgun, a felony in California. Because of a history of thyrotoxicosis, the Public Defender asked if I would examine the patient and give medical testimony at his trial.
