In this issue of the Annals (p. 631) is published the "Statement of the Committee on Morals and Ethics of the Transplantation Society." The medical profession should welcome this careful consideration of serious moral and ethical problems by those colleagues around the world who are most directly involved in this relatively new field of organ transplantation. In essence the Society says that renal allografts are now therapeutic procedures in the hands of a trained team and that transplantation of other organs, except the brain, is acceptable as an experimental procedure; that in the choice of recipients risks must be weighed
