Every once in a while a unique book appears on the market that merits special attention. In my own student days, some 20 years ago, the study of carbohydrate metabolism by Soskin and Levine was such a book. Here is another one for the present generation, an eminently successful volume in which the author bridges aspects of clinical medicine and basic science and, by so doing, benefits both.
