Among the various major treatises on cardiology, this large volume (928 pages) attempts to place more emphasis on the needs of the bedside clinician (as opposed to the "professional cardiologist"!) and to avoid the multireferenced ponderous style of other excellent compendia. This is an ambitious challenge, especially for a single author.
The successful aspects of this book lie in the many good clinical discussions. There is appropriate emphasis on key features and on diagnostic pitfalls in clinical and electrocardiographic data. Discussion of differential diagnostic lesions is included in full in the section on the primary problem, rather than being segregated
