The problems of chronic pyelonephritis and urinary tract infection are seen through so many nebulous concepts that authorities apparently agree that the subject should be reviewed periodically in order to further clarify (or confuse) the subject. International symposia were held in the United States in 1959 and 1964, and the most recent was in Melbourne, Australia, in 1970. The proceedings of the latter meeting are in this volume of 43 papers.
