This new text has been developed from the proceedings of a symposium with multiple authors, and it shows the expected variability in the presentation of its content. The 44 sections include discussions of digitalis, antiarrhythmic drugs, diuretics, bacterial endocarditis, pulmonary emboli, primary myocardial disease, stroke, coronary artery disease, hypertension, lipids, anticoagulants, and cardiac surgery. Some of the content lacks specificity and is presented in general terms. I expected therapy to be presented more concisely. Irrelevant material, such as historical facts, overshadows the therapeutic facts.
