In seven relatively brief chapters the author of this book has presented the best discussion of functional anatomy and dynamics of the heart and circulation that is available. The first 69 pages contain a summary of clinically important and interesting general properties of the systemic and pulmonary circulation, the lymphatic systems, and the heart. The rest of the text includes discussion of the control and estimation of cardiac output, the factors regulating distribution of cardiac output, the regulation of systemic arterial pressure, the effects of changes in posture, and the cardiovascular responses to exertion.
The text is brief and lucid.
