This multiauthored monograph is the first of two volumes on the physiology of peripheral circulation. The topics included are the dynamics of the arterial system, microcirculation, special (cerebral, coronary, splanchnic, renal, cutaneous, and muscle) circulations, and the fetal circulation. The second volume will discuss venous return, the general physiology of vascular muscle, and regulation and integration of the circulation.
