Radiation therapy is well recognized by most physicians to be an important adjunct in cancer therapy. Unfortunately, many physicians do not recognize the subtleties and nuances that transform average radiotherapy into excellent radiotherapy. Drs. Buschke and Parker emphasize this in their first chapter, and they further emphasize the progress that has been made in this highly technical field. Radiation therapy is a science; as such, it requires trained and skilled individuals. This fact is not fully appreciated by many physicians.
