This is the 26th volume to appear since 1963, when this encyclopedia was initiated. In this day of multiple authorship it is impressive, indeed, that one man has accomplished this work. The extensive literature on the osteochondronecroses (juvenile or idiopathic aseptic necroses of bone) is widely scattered and is burdened by countless eponyms. Dr. Pöschl, professor of radiology at the University of Munich, has succeeded in collecting and organizing this material in one beautifully produced volume.
