To the editor: Your attention is respectfully called to the article, "Mucosa of the Small Intestine in Folate-Deficient Alcoholics," by Hermos and associates (76:957-965, 1972) in the June issue. At the bottom of Table 1 normal values for serum folate are reported as "> 6 mg/ml" and for serum B12 as "> 150 mg/ml."
Normal values are given in the current edition of Cecil-Loeb Textbook of Medicine as: serum, folate 7 to 16 ng/ml; and serum B12, 200 to 800 pg/ml.
