Sixty-two, mostly research, papers, with summaries of discussions: the proceedings of a symposium held in Montreal, Canada. The focus is on hormonal and chemical mechanisms in hypertension. As with most symposia, the text is not a connected, coherent account, but the papers, in toto, provide an excellent panorama of current concepts and studies in this important, active field. The price is relatively high, but the book's quality justifies it. This report is likely to be more useful in clinical libraries than most symposium reports.
