To the editor: The American Society of Internal Medicine (ASIM) has compiled a dictionary of the terms commonly used in the socioeconomics of medicine. The definitions come from many sources, especially the AMA, CMA, and the Health Insurance Benefits Committee of ASIM. We hope that this Dictionary of Terms will help reduce some of the unnecessary complexity, confusion, and chaos that arise in discussions, committee meetings, board meetings, and publications.
Copies are available from ASIM. Requests for three or less are free; more than three cost $1.00.
