Where do concise therapeutic guides fit into a physicians' practice? Authoritatively written guides such as Current Therapy 1972 ideally are meant for use in the office as quick references on the common or rare problems encountered throughout the day. Such guides cannot replace access to and use of a core medical library, but they are clearly superior to such nonguides to therapy as drug advertisements, detail men, and dimly remembered dosages for infrequently encountered conditions.
